tuesday rain

I hear the drizzle of the rain
like a memory it falls
soft and warm, continuing
tapping on my roof and walls.

a gift

A few days ago when T. was mowing the yard, he noticed our neighbor, Helen, standing at the fence flagging him down. After he stopped the lawnmower and headed over, she handed him a tiny post-it booklet (pictured above) and told him that she had made it for me. "I know she is very busy," she said, "and I want her to have this gift."

Now, for those of you who know me, you can imagine my reaction when T. passed along my little present and the story behind it. Not only was I enamored by the sheer cuteness of it all, but I was also struck by how well Helen has read me over the past few years via simple conversations over her lilac (or snow, depending on the season)-covered fence.

I am grateful to Helen for many reasons, especially for reminding me just how special handmade gifts are. Knowing that someone took the time to think about you, then sit down and actually make something for you, is humbling...and a greater gift than the gift itself.

a whisper

There's a whisper on the night-wind, there's a star agleam to guide us
And the Wild is calling, calling . . . let us go.

love grows

I couldn't resist the cheesy title...I love the shape of these moonflower leaves. ;o)

No flowers yet, but the vine grows bigger, stronger, and stickier by the second. I swear...one morning we're going to wake up and our house is going to look like Jumanji!!

an oldie but goodie

It's hard to believe it's been almost a year since T. and I got hitched. Let's see here...last year around this time I was scouring craigslist for old mason jars, writing up our programs, and talking our guitarist into learning a Zeppelin song for my walk down the aisle! ;o)

I wanted our guests to have something to remember the mountains by (we got married in Colorado), so the week before the wedding I took a bunch of pictures to be printed out as favors. Of course I waited until the last minute--and by last minute I mean 2AM the day of the wedding--to print them all out / cut them to size (bless you J, bless you), but the end result was just as I had envisioned.

Here is one of my favorite shots, taken in the dewy grass near Lake Dillon in Frisco.

sun it rises

Isn't it crazy how a good jam can overwhelm you...how your entire body, mind, everything just succumbs to the music...

This might have been the best concert I have ever been to.

Wow.

little man

Today I had my third photo session with Little B, and I can't get over how much he has grown! He's just on the brink of walking, and you can see the excitement in his eyes. We had such a fun time roaming around the lake and playing in the sand...and that little sailor hat is just too cute for words!!

Happy 9 months, Little Man! ;o)
